STUDENT ACTIVITIES:

·         STUDENT PHOTOS ARE IN, please stop by Ms. Dennard’s office to pick up your photos especially if you think you want to do re-takes/makeup’s on Sept. 22.  To purchase new portraits, you must pick up a flyer in advance from the SAC.  When you receive your current school pictures, please bring them with you if you are doing retakes. 

 

Brophy’s first Swim and Dive meet of the season TODAY, 4PM, Brophy East, 2902 E. Campbell Ave.  Come out and support Brophy’s Swim and Dive team - it’s FREE admission J.

 

TECH THEATRE CLUB is building the set for Up The Down Staircase.  Meet after school Tues-Thursday in Eller Tech Shop. 

 

MAGAZINE DRIVE RALLY @ BREAK this Friday, HGH – It’s simple - SELL MAGAZINES OR COMPLETE AN ADDRESS BOOK, WIN PRIZES.

ATHLETICS

Wrestling:  The wrestling room is open for Open Mat Tuesdays and Thursdays on the first floor of Loyola after school for anyone interested in wrestling.  Any newcomers should see Coach Leyba.  You must have a physical on file with Brophy to participate.

CLUBS/MEETINGS

HERMANOS UNIDOS: There will be a meeting for Brophy’s Hermanos Unidos today at lunch in B105.  We are hoping for a great turn out.

 

OFFICE OF FAITH AND JUSTICE

·         Immersion and Advocacy Trips Info. Meeting - Mark your calendar for the immersion and advocacy trip info. meeting on Wednesday, September 8th at lunch in the Student Activity Center to learn about all the trips that will be offered this year through the OFJ.

·         Sophomore Service: All students who completed Sophomore Service over the summer should remember to hand in all paperwork to the Office of Faith and Justice.

·         If you are interested in participating in a 5 day immersion trip (February 10-14th) to learn more about the fragile ecosystems of the coral reefs and mangrove forests in Key Largo, Florida, contact Mrs. Mazier Brophy’s Advanced Placement Environmental Science Instructor at pmazier@brophyprep.org for more information. Space on this trip is limited.

·         Loyola Project: The Loyola Project begins Tuesday Sept 7th for Tuesday/Thursday participants and Wednesday Sept. 8th for Monday/Wednesday participants. Training occurs today for Tuesday/Thursday.  Please remember to hand in your permission forms by training.

·         Freshman Breakaway: All students enrolled in UCC should have received a breakaway date and permission form.  Please return permission forms to the Office of Faith and Justice by Sept 3rd. If you are enrolled in UCC but did not receive a breakaway date or permission forms please see Miss Powell in the OFJ.

 

REMINDERS AND UPCOMING EVENTS!

 

·           Attention Freshman Class members:  The Slice Batteries that have been on back order from Toshiba are starting to arrive.  While we have received a shipment of these batteries, they are not yet all in.  Distribution is on a first come, first served basis, and you must be in possession of your Brophy issued student ID in order to receive your battery.  If and when we run out of batteries, we will communicate any further information via your brophybroncos.org e-mail account.  Thank you for your continued patience while we await the remainder of the batteries.

·         Reminder to Senior Parents:  Please RSVP with Mary Novak at mnovak@brophyprep.org  for the Senior Parent/College Counselor Coffee Chat on September 9 from 7:45am-8:45am in the Great Hall

·         Seniors who want to attend the Sept. 18 College Application/Essay Writing Workshop need to RSVP with Mrs. Novak at mnovak@brophyprep.org

·         MAGAZINE DRIVE: PLEASE REMEMBER TO PUT YOUR 6TH PERIOD TEACHER AND YOUR GRADE ON THE BOOKLETS AND ALL YOUR ORDER FORMS BEFORE TURNING THEM IN.  You can turn in daily!

Please sell magazines ALONG WITH completing the address booklet and turn them in to Ms. Dennard in the Student Activity Center (SAC) so that your entire class can win a pizza lunch.  Rally this Friday with many prizes for magazine orders and address booklets submitted: Gift cards, movie tickets, CASH, etc.  Please try and sell at least one magazine subscription and take 5 minutes to complete the address book with 11 names and addresses.  We have more address booklets in the SAC.  Orders can be made online:  Go to www.qsp.com and click on SHOP NOW, enter account number: 425011594

·         STUDENT PICTURE MAKEUPS/RETAKES – Wednesday, Sept. 22 in the back of the OFJ area – IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you did not take your picture on registration/orientation day, please come to Makeup’s on Wednesday, Sept. 22, before school, at break and lunch.  When you receive your current school pictures, please bring them with you if you are doing retakes.  To purchase new portraits, you must pick up a flyer in advance from the SAC.

·         ALL SENIORS/SENIOR PHOTOS:  If you have not already done so, please schedule your Senior Portraits for the yearbook with Cilento Photography (602) 938-6075, 4925 W. Bell Rd., Ste C10, Glendale.  This is the only location for now that you can take your photos.  You must be photographed on or before Sept. 17, 2010 in order to appear in the yearbook.   These are the guidelines for portraits:  No facial hair, Suit Coat, Dress Shirt and Tie.   SENIORS, DO NOT WAIT ANY LONGER OR YOU WILL NOT BE IN THE YEARBOOK!
