March for Life
The March for Life is an annual protest that takes
place in Washington D.C. that calls for a pro-life government.
The protesters speak out on a number of issues, but specifically
target that of abortion. January, 2007 marked the first time that
Brophy sent marchers to Washington. However, we are hoping that
the trip will continue to grow.
IIf you have any questions, or wish to join Brophy's
Right to Life Club, please contact Deacon

in the Office of Faith and Justice.
Here are some reactions of students who attended
this year's March for Life, as well as pictures of this year's
trip.
"I was amazed at participation at the march.
Most of the participants were youth such as myself. I expected
there to be an adult majority defending life at the march. There
is really no easy explanation for the participation. My constituents
and I feel as though God played a role in this effort. He is invoking
a passion for life in the youth. Thus we can be certain the pro-life
movement will succeed. More and more youth are supporting life
from conception to natural death. Although the recent 2006 election
may make it harder to change the abortion laws, eventually this
inhumane practice will end, because the youth are caring more
about the issue and God is on our side." -Rocco Lents
"On the eighth annual Cardinal O’Connor
Conference for life I had the great pleasure to meet Father John
Hopkins of the Institute for the Psychology Sciences.. Though
the all the speakers I heard that weekend were very dynamic, I
found Father Hopkins fiery speech the most interesting to me since
I would like to enter that field. His talk embodied how today’s
“pop psychology” focuses in a self centered attitude.
We also got to listen Father Benedict Groeschel C.F.R. who’s
talk was also on how today’s psychology has helped bring
about a culture of death. He made one statement in particular
about how psychologists today “take you from being miserable
to become unhappy.” This has been the best and most uplifting
experience in my life and I will definitely be coming back next
year." -Eric Martin
"The rally before the March for Life was very
inspirational. I was able to see all the other youth from across
the rest of the nation. I especially was glad to see all the support
we received from many representatives especially Rick Rhenzi from
Arizona. The most inspirational speech that I heard at the rally
though was by an African-American protestant priest in which he
asked that the African-American society becomes more involved
in the pro-life cause, because abortion had been the leading death
to African-Americans for the last 30 years. Also we attended a
mass in which father bill gave a fantastic homily. He started
off by telling us that we had just passed a law saying that everything
unhealthy for us became healthy for us, such as candy and playing
video games. Then he went into talking about even though we voted
on it, that it was still not right. He then stated that even though
abortion had been legalized it was still wrong, and that we needed
to stop this wrong doing." -Kevin Ferreira
